Are you connected?

Before you can fairly answer that question, let me give you a working definition. Connection according to me is the ability to feel the energy of someone and desire to keep that energy near you.

When you’re connected you do things like call, text, and video call frequently throughout the day. You live out the lyrics of the Spinners song, “Whenever you want me, I’ll be there. Whenever you need me, I’ll be there. Whenever you call me, I’ll be there. I’ll be around.”

When you strive for those “good vibes only” you find yourself strategically placing yourself in certain environments. You find your circle becomes smaller, more impactful, and you are more accountable. You hold tight to the philosophy of being unapologetically you.

You easily identify this mantra in your personal and professional lives. You can immediately acknowledge who you want to continue conversations with or perhaps what to hang out with.

From a business perspective you know whether you want to do business with someone or a company from the first encounter. The reputation is initially built on how you connect with someone or the company’s representative.

From an entrepreneur’s aspect it is critical to master the soft skill of connection. If you don’t have that welcoming and trusting spirit your clients/customers or potential clients/customers will take their business elsewhere.

I leave you with the questions, how are you connecting with other people? What do you need to do to improve the soft skill of connection.
